Travelling to the Outer Hebrides

By Air

The Isle of Lewis has one airport, Stornoway (SYY). Flybe (www.flybe.com) operate daily flights, Monday to Saturday, to Stornoway from Inverness (INV), Glasgow (GLA) and Edinburgh (EDI). Eastern Airways  (www.easternairways.com) operate daily flights, Monday to Friday, to Stornoway from Aberdeen. All four airports have excellent connections within the UK and internationally.

By Sea

This is the choice of the greatest majority of visitors to the Outer Hebrides.Caledonian MacBrayne (www.calmac.co.uk) operates a regular car ferry service between Ullapool and Stornoway, or alternatively between Uig (Isle of Skye) and Tarbert.

Travelling within the Isle of Lewis

Gearrannan is about 25 miles (40km) to the west of Stornoway, and about 45 miles (56km) north west of Tarbert. Follow signs for Càrlabhagh (Carloway) on the A858.

The Outer Hebrides now has a comprehensive bus service covering all the islands. Gearrannan is on bus route W2.
